BIO/OVERVIEW

Leon and Rebecca have been servants of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ throughout their 31 years of marriage…a journey filled with mountaintop and valley experiences. And, that love is reflected throughout the songs you’ll experience on the CD. The debut single, “Come Let Jesus In”, not only encourages non believers to give the Lord a try, but also challenges those who do know Him, to consider; have I really let him into all aspects of my life. Although Leon and Rebecca have been musicians and vocalists for most of their life, this is their debut album with a strong influence of sharing the word in song. If you enjoy music with a message, you’ll appreciate the message in “Invitation to Christ”, with a unique combination of Christian/Gospel and Jazz.

Grammy nominated and two-time Stellar award winning producer, Michael L Taylor lends his talents to this project. Despite working with Gospel greats Kirk Franklin, Donald Lawrence, and Ricky Dillard, Taylor says it has been an exciting experience to work with the Leapers and their original music. Equally impressive, is the unique collaboration of gifted musicians Taylor has assembled for this project. They include Derrick Hearne-Bass guitar, who has also worked with Ricky Dillard; Tim Neinhuis –guitar, who has played with legendary gospel artist Andre Crouch, along with other talented musicians guitarist Greg Henkin and drummers Jared Leaper and Joshua Metcalf.

The information below gives insight into some of the music we have been divinely inspired to share.

“CAN’T YOU SEE YOU’LL FALL IN LOVE WITH JESUS”

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son; that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16. This song is rooted in the life, death, burial, resurrection and the return of Jesus. It is fitting that this song was released during Lent season and just before the Celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, Lord and Savior of the household of Faith.

He extends the invitation for eternal life with him in heaven to all freely. When you think of the provision He has made to reconcile us to Himself (to save us)at Calvary for, to provide the abundant life for us, to prepare a place for us to spend eternal l life with him…..you can’t help but fall in love with Jesus!

“YOU DID IT FOR ME”

Poet and friend CeCe Chester emailed me a poem and asked, “Can you set music to this poem?” I replied that I’ll see what I can do.  After reading the poem, changing a few words, and letting the words resonate in my mind and heart, I prayed for the music. The next day, the music again was divinely presented to me. After a few sessions of playing and singing the song and asking Jared Leaper to add the drum design, I contacted my friend and shared it with her. God is so amazing! It’s one thing to know that you are saved by the blood of Jesus Christ. It’s another thing to really come to grips with all salvation means for our life. This is a song of encouragement reminding us that, “He Did It for Me” (each one of us; it’s personal).

“GRACE”

Imagine that you suddenly find yourself unemployed and at peace about it. You made a single bad decision. You trusted the wrong people. The end result impacts the entire team. You did see the outcome because the Holy Spirit gave discernment about the outcome. The Holy Spirit never leaves us surprised. You have time to relax, study the word, and play the piano….hear from God…receive provision from God through the company that employed you. And, in your prayer time and evening rest, He gives you a song to remind you of His Grace. This rhythm is in your head with a base line you have never heard. Suddenly, in the midst of everything…Grace [unmerited favor and blessing] gives us the strength to go on!  Grace won’t leave us alone [He will never leave us nor forsake us]! Grace brought us into the marvelous light through Christ Jesus! Grace makes us joint heirs with Christ! And yes, we will reign with Christ! This is the song of GRACE. No matter what we’ve done or what we will do, we have his Grace when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior.

“THINK ON THESE THINGS”

I decided to participate in a Bible Study with the Senior Women of the Church Family. The Word of God teaches us that these Women have wisdom that we can be used by the younger women. We have to be willing to spend time with them to get at this wisdom. We studied the Book of Philippians where I learned even more about adopting the humility of Christ in my own life. I recognized it is so easy to be discontent when we still have so much to be grateful for. Yet the Apostle Paul admonishes us to consider whatever is true, whatever is right, whatever is lovely, whatever is pure, whatever is noble, whatever is virtuous; think on these things. He further reminds us that we have to be content in whatever state we find ourselves [even unemployed for a moment]. It takes a journey to learn how to be content; it does not happen overnight! He further explains he has learned how to live in want or with plenty. At the end of all of this, we have to remember that the God of peace will be with us…He will comfort us…..He will see us through…we are encouraged to think on these things. At the end of the Bible Study period of a few weeks, God gave another song in a dream –“Think On These Things”.
